before i knew what to do with my life, i ran away to work on a farm. although the experience was a dream come true, my first night there was excruciating. i arrived before my clothes and equipment did. without blankets or a flashlight, i spent one night freezing to death in a pitch black barn.

in the morning, i walked outside to pee. the sunrise made the whole miserable night worth a damn. it was every shade of blue and pink and yellow. wet clouds hung low to the horizon, like they were full of marbles. "i'm gonna love it here," i thought. i zipped up my pants and went to breakfast.
