The Weissman Family Portrait

this is only the second family portrait that i have ever been asked to draw. charissa chu commissioned it after i painted her husband, steven weissman. although i love the idea of family portraits, it took me more than a year to finish the first one. this one was overdue also. i had to admit to myself that i was actually intimidated. more than portraits of individuals or even couples, i feel the need to portray everyone in a family truly and kindly. it's sort of like being with family, come to think of it: one on one, it's easy to decide where to go and what to do. with lots of people though, the day can go anywhere and mean anything and will everyone be happy? i hope so.
